About the Department

Department of General Education

         The Department of General Education, Faculty of Science and Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya was formerly called the

Faculty of General Education, Rajamangala Institute of Technology, Nakhon Si Thammarat Campus. There were eight courses: Thai Language,

Social Sciences and Humanities, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics and English Language. The department was given

responsibility for teaching the Faculty of Plant Science, the Faculty of Animal Science and the Faculty of Fishery Science.

It first began teaching students at the high vocational level and later at the undergraduate level.

         On January 19, 2006, it was combined and changed to Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya.

         On November 14, 2006, the Ministry of Education announced ministerial regulations to establish and merge 
the government offices within Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya into several Faculties. 
The Faculty of General Education was changed to the Department of General Education 
which is a part of the Faculty of Science and Technology. It is responsible for teaching four main subject areas: 
Thai Language, Social sciences and Humanities, Physical Education and Recreation and Foreign Languages. 
In 2007 the department began teaching Bachelor's Degree as Bachelor of Arts in English for International Communication. 
          In 2011, the department began teaching a 4-year program at the undergraduate level, 
(B.A. English for International Communication). At present the Department of General Education 
open a 2-year continuing program (Bachelor of Arts). There are two courses taught at 
the Department of General Education: 

Bachelor of Arts in English for International Communication, a 4-year undergraduate program

Bachelor of Arts in English for International Communication, a 2-year continuing program

 

Vision

The Department of General Education offers courses in general education, particularly in humanities, social sciences, sports, physical education and recreation to students of all undergraduate programs of the university so that students have knowledge, skills, vision, understanding of the natural environment, social conditions, understanding of themselves and others, ability to adjust themselves and live happily in the society. 

Missions

  1. To provide general education in Humanities and Social Sciences.
  2. To build bodies of knowledge in English skill.
  3. To provide academic services to improve and respond to the needs of the community and society.
  4. Take active participation in the preservation and nourishment of Thai arts, culture, religions, and the environment.
  5. Provide academic services to promote creation of jobs and competitive potential.

Policy

1.    To be a source of knowledge and services in the science and technology ,

2.    To produce graduates in science and technology, in order to produce human resources with the abilities necessary for the workplaces at both local and international.

3.    To produce graduates in knowledge, skills, vision, understanding of the new innovations,  in order to produce analysis, understanding of themselves and others,

4.    To produce graduates ability to adjust themselves and live happily in the society.  

Goals

1. To produce graduates in the degrees who can communicate effectively in English, possess knowledge about language
